Connections invites people in the early stages of Alzheimerβs and dementia and their caregivers to experience CAM in a supported environment designed to minimize stress and to provide a connection with the art thanks to support from Champion McDowell Davis Charitable Foundation.
On Mondays, when CAM is closed to the public, guests enjoy a guided tour of the exhibitions led by CAM Connections Volunteers. Following the tour, participants are encouraged to create artwork inspired by what theyβve seen. Certified Therapeutic Musicians (CMPs) provide live music, while various art-making activities are offered.

Art Enhances Health
With the support of The Ministering Circle and the Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation, CAM offers FREE six-week classes to cancer patients and survivors. Based on research showing that art can positively impact brain function and well-being, these sessions aim to provide relaxation, emotional expression, and relief from pain and anxiety. Teaching artist Donna Moore and expressive arts therapist Lorraine Perry lead classes in art making and expressive writing. These classes include gallery visits and mindful meditation.
In partnership with Novant Health Zimmer Cancer Institute, CAM offers a one-year membership to anyone being treated for cancer. More information and membership cards are available at both the Novant Health Zimmer Cancer Institute and at CAMβs Visitor Services desk.

Botanical journaling can be a very meditative process that enhances creativity. Boundless Tour in the PNC USCT Park
Cameron Art Museum
Step into history with a guided tour of Boundless, a life-size bronze sculpture by artist Stephen Hayes. Located in PNC USCT Park on CAMβs grounds, this striking monument honors the legacy of the United States Colored Troops (USCT)βthe brave soldiers who fought in the Battle of Forks Road during the Civil War in 1865.
The sculpture was created from casts of the features of 11 African American men connected to the site and its story β USCT descendants, re-enactors, veterans, and community leaders. Boundless was unveiled on November 13, 2021, and is on permanent view in the PNC USCT Park on the museum grounds. The sculpture is deeply connected to our communityβs history, present, and future.
When: Every Friday from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Free with museum admission.

We provide children with programs and interactive exhibits that emphasize critical thinking skills, STEAM instruction, and hands-on projects in small group sizes. We offer a wide variety of themed camps led by engaged, qualified educators, to fit and support every child's interests. Our unique layout comprises three beautiful historic buildings, an interactive water exhibit, and an outdoor play area, giving children plenty of kid-friendly spaces to move, learn and play.

Hidden Battleship is for the explorer at heart! Join us for an afternoon on a unique, behind-the-scenes tour of unrestored areas on the Battleship. Organized into small groups, the participants are led to areas in the bow, third deck, and below, and the superstructure, including all the way to the very top! This program requires climbing ladders, crossing high hatches, and going through tight/confined spaces.
