Samara Joy

Samara Joy became entranced by classic R&B as a child in her church’s gospel choir. And while her family history is deeply musical, she didn’t delve into the jazz tradition until she attended college at SUNY Purchase. Winning the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2019 introduced her to the larger jazz scene as a masterful interpreter of jazz. Since her self-titled debut album in 2021, Joy has released three albums and won five Grammy Awards. Her undeniable talent has taken the industry by storm, situating her as a principal figure in the next generation of jazz.
