Contemporary Dance in Four Walls

Cameron Art Museum, Downtown Wilmington

Overview

Experience the powerful connection between movement and art at Cameron Art Museum with Contemporary Dance in Four Walls. This unique afternoon of performances features dance works inspired by the spiritual and contemplative space within the Four Walls exhibition by Thomas Sayre. The event begins with Madeleine Pautier’s “Yūgen”, a captivating exploration of the universe’s physical and spiritual mysteries, from what lies below the water’s surface to what flies above. Drawing from the dual nature of water and air, Pautier’s choreography reflects themes of fluid transformation, hope, and wonder. Following this, members of the Dance Cooperative present new works inspired by the scale and textures of Sayre’s art. These original pieces delve into themes of honor, sacrifice, struggle, and spirituality, resonating deeply with the exhibition’s contemplative nature.
