Juneteenth Celebration

Cameron Art Museum, Downtown Wilmington

$ Free

Overview

The Juneteenth Committee of Wilmington Inc. and Speak Ya Peace will host an afternoon of celebration with poetry readings, spoken word and music! The afternoon opens with libations and a reading from Langston Hughes followed by words from historians Sonya Bennetone Patrick and Mama Makeda. Hear music and poetry from Soltree Reign and take part in community conversations from local organizations. Sample local flavors from food trucks, and enjoy children’s activities in the galleria. Juneteenth recognizes African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It’s a time for communities to come together for reflection and rejoicing.
