A-Line Skirt Workshop

Join us for our first A-Line Maxi Skirt Workshop! In this beginner-friendly, upcycling-focused workshop, you’ll create your very own custom maxi skirt.

We’ll begin with a brief overview of sewing and machine basics, along with a few sample stitches to help build confidence at the machine. From there, you’ll learn how to work with elastic waistbands, basic hemming techniques, and how to draft and construct your own simple skirt pattern to fit your body!

In this workshop, we will primarily focus on working with old cotton and linen sheets. We’ll have a selection of sheets available to use during class, but participants are also encouraged to BYO sheets or recycled fabrics if they have something special they’d like to work with!

This workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to get into simple garment construction while learning foundational sewing and upcycling techniques!

What to bring:
Optional: Your own cotton or linen sheets / lightweight recycled fabric to work with. We will also have materials available for use in class!

All other materials(machines, thread, scissors, etc...) and guidance will be provided — just bring your own fabric(if you wish!) and we’ll guide you through the skirt making process!

• Time: 5:30- 8:30/9:00 (approximately, estimated 3/3.5 hours of work! Feel free to bring snacks/dinner!)

• Location: Solemar Studio – 2133 Wrightsville Ave, Wilmington, NC

(Please ensure your machine is in good working condition if you plan to bring your own.)
