Live - Fastball 30th Anniversary Tour @ Floridian

The Floridian Social, Downtown St Petersburg

$ 25

Overview

Fastball, formed in 1994 in Austin, Texas, fused a love for Beatles-inspired melodies with the alternative vibe of late-’90s mainstream rock. Originally known as Magneto U.S.A, the trio—guitarist/vocalist Miles Zuniga, bassist/vocalist Tony Scalzo, and drummer Joey Shuffield—rebranded as Fastball after signing with Hollywood Records. Their debut album, “Make Your Mama Proud,” dropped in 1996, displaying the band’s modern-meets-vintage sound that propelled them to mainstream fame. The follow-up, “All the Pain Money Can Buy” in 1998, boasted hit singles “The Way,” “Fire Escape,” and “Out of My Head,” earning the band two Grammy nominations and platinum status. “Keep Your Wig On” and “Little White Lies” followed, showcasing Fastball’s power pop roots and collaborative songwriting. In 2017, the self-released “Step into Light” was supported by an extensive U.S. and Canada tour, while 2018 marked the 20th anniversary of “All the Pain Money Can Buy” with a reissue and hometown concert. In 2019, “The Help Machine” dropped, produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos. They subsequently released music via Patreon, culminating in their upcoming album “The Deep End” slated for June 17, 2022.
